A forced rest day

Unfortunately, my adventurous eating has caught up with me and I’ve been feeling sick since yesterday afternoon.

I was supposed to take the 2-day slow boat down the Mekong River beginning today, ending up in Luang Prabang in Laos. I decided that feeling unwell while stuck on a boat for two days sounded like a nightmare, so I stayed in Chiang Rai for an extra day and booked a flight to Luang Prabang for tomorrow.

Fingers crossed that all goes well tomorrow!

In the meantime, I’ve bought some bananas and a hostel-mate got me some Gatorade, and I translated my way through a Thai pharmacy! Take that, stomach bug.

    Hi Jasmine

Sorry that you had to interrupt your well-planned trip because of an upset stomach. Lucky that it has taken you that long before your body finally said “Enough” and revolted. We had a similar experience years ago when touring China & Malaysia. Except it started on day #3 and held on for the next 3 weeks. Fortunately 2 caring doctors in the same travel group kept an eye on things.

You have certainly seen and photographed many interesting sights that you will never forget. Oma and I have followed your daily reports with great interest and anticipation on ———what’s to come next.

All’s well here – beautiful warm summer is here to stay for a while.

    Love, OMA & OPA

Fortunately, I think the worst of my sickness is over and I’m glad it didn’t take me three weeks to get there! I was able to pick up some antibiotics at a drug store, which helped a ton.
I’m so glad you’re enjoying following along! Love you.
